![]() United Way of the Piedmont is all about making a positive impact on our community. By bringing together individuals, corporations and other organizations, we address the most pressing needs in our community through investing in programs that make a difference. You can make your mark by giving through your workplace campaign, by advocating for a cause that is important to you, or by volunteering at an organization that could use an extra set of hands. United Way of the Piedmont is a private, not-for-profit organization governed
by a local board of volunteers and as such is accountable to the local community.
Our services cover three counties: Cherokee, Spartanburg and Union. Our mission
is to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another.
What do we do?
Impact community – to change people’s lives
During the 2008-2009 fiscal year, we provided funding to 132 programs in 70 agencies to address the needs of Cherokee, Spartanburg and Union Counties. Foster partnerships – to address community issues
Each year we allocate resources to invest in collaborative efforts with other
community organizations to resolve numerous issues.
Promote volunteerism – to utilize our most precious resource
Last year, we coordinated over 52,000 volunteer hours valued at $980,000
worth of time to the community.
Develop resources – to fund programs that address critical issues
We partner with over 200 businesses and thousands of individual donors to insure that funding is available to programs that are delivering the most benefit to the communities we serve.
Inform and educate - to increase community knowledge
Last year, United Way of the Piedmont managed over 1,000 calls through our Information and Referral System.
