Individual / Group Volunteer

Do you want to do some volunteer work in our community but don’t know where to start?  Does your Sunday school class, civic group, fraternity or sorority want to do a volunteer project as a group?  Contact United Way’s Volunteer Connections and our staff will match you with a volunteer opportunity that fits into your schedule and interests.

Here’s just a sample of the types of volunteer opportunities that exist in Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union Counties:

  • Serve as a mentor to an at risk youth
  • Do some office work – file papers, answer phones, and direct office traffic
  • Serve on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit organization
  • Spend some time with a senior citizen
  • Teach someone how to read
  • Get trained to serve on a disaster response team
  • Work with animals at a local shelter or clinic
  • Help kids in an after school program with their homework
  • Paint a room, do some landscaping, or repair some broken equipmentSort or repair donated items at a local thrift store
  • Greet patients at a medical clinic and help them complete paperwork
  • Coordinate a local scouting group
  • Conduct activities at a local senior center or nursing home
